Coming Soon

Raspberry Pi / ARM64

An ARM64 build is not available yet. The Linux download on this page is for Intel and AMD 64-bit computers (amd64 / x86_64) and will not run on Raspberry Pi. No Raspberry Pi models or release date are confirmed.

Pi support requires a separate ARM64 build, validation of the embedded browser and video dependencies, and testing on a real Pi for playback, pairing, remote control, kiosk startup and reboot.

From download to playback

01

Prepare your Linux box

Use an Intel or AMD 64-bit desktop with Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04. Select Ubuntu on Xorg at login for remote mouse and keyboard control.

02

Install and pair

Download the Debian package, verify its checksum and install it. Launch the player, then claim the on-screen setup code in your SignageX account.

03

Validate your screen

Publish images and video, check audio, test offline playback and reconnect. Verify remote Home/Back, restart and reboot before deploying more screens.

Requirements and current limits

  • Initial validation targets: Ubuntu Desktop 22.04 / 24.04, amd64 (x86_64), with a working graphical session.
  • X11 is required for remote input. Wayland remote control is not supported by the current input implementation.
  • Raspberry Pi / ARM64 is not included. Other distributions and hardware need validation before deployment.
  • Internet access is needed for installation, pairing and content downloads. Downloaded content must be tested offline on your device.

Install v15

Open Terminal on the Linux device. The download below is pinned to v15; its checksum and filename stay together. The grouped commands stop before installation if the download or checksum check fails.

Check the installed version with dpkg-query -W signagex-player. Debian reports version 15 for release v15.

Optional dedicated kiosk session

After playback works, run this as the ordinary screen user. Log out, select SignageX Kiosk and log in again. Configure automatic login separately for startup after power-on.

Optional kiosk setup
sudo /opt/signagex-player/kiosk/install.sh "$(id -un)" /usr/bin/signagex-player

This installs Openbox and screen controls, starts the player fullscreen and grants the selected local active kiosk user permission to reboot. Validate CMS reboot and a physical power cycle before handover.

What changed in v15?

  • Remote-control dependencies packaged and Back window restoration corrected.
  • Optional kiosk session with fullscreen, player restart, cursor hiding and blanking prevention.
  • Restricted, opt-in kiosk reboot authorization.

Published to production October 23, 2026. CI passed analysis, tests, Linux builds, packaging and Debian installation. Pairing, video/audio, offline recovery, remote control and power-on behavior still need device validation.
